Komen North Jersey is honored to announce that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie have agreed to serve as Honorary Chairs for the 6th Annual Susan g. Komen North Jersey race for the Cure® on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
Governor Christie’s mother, the late Sondra Christie, died of breast cancer in 2004, and the Governor and First Lady have been longtime supporters of Komen North Jersey. In the Fall of 2012, as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Governor Christie officially designated the third week of October as Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week, in support of the Blue Wave and Komen North Jersey collaboration to increase awareness of male breast cancer.

In keeping with the spirit of local support, towns all over our Affiliate’s nine-county service area have also been joining in the crusade by issuing formal proclamations declaring Sunday, May 5th Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure Day and encouraging their citizens to participate. For the first time this year, Komen North Jersey is inviting town mayors/leaders to be front-and-center at the Race and be part of the formal ribbon-cutting that kicks off the 5K Race and Walk.
WE HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US, BECAUSE...
