Deb Belfatto 2016 headshot The year was 1986. Deborah Q. Belfatto was 33 years old. She’d been married to a wonderful man for five years, and had a beautiful two-year-old daughter. She was busy running her three successful children’s clothing stores. Life was good. But then Deb discovered a lump in her breast, and her life was about to change, in more ways than she could ever imagine. She went to see her gynecologist, who dismissed her concerns, saying that she had nothing to worry about because she was so young. Deb pushed back. “Should I get a mammogram?” she asked.  “Perhaps... yes,” he replied. Nothing showed up on the mammogram, or a subsequent needle biopsy. Her gynecologist’s somewhat cavalier response was that now she definitely had nothing to worry about.  But Deb’s gut feeling was that, indeed, she did. read full bio
Kathy Hubert McKenna Kathleen Hubert-McKenna is a Co-Founder of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, North Jersey Affiliate, and an active volunteer in changing the face of health care for causes that are personal and important to her.  She played a key role in the establishment of the Affiliate in 1996, as a member of the organizing committee, and then in developing the infrastructure and organization of North Jersey.  The Affiliate became a driving force throughout its nine county service area as the primary source of funding to breast health and breast cancer organizations.  During that time, she also served as a member of the Management Team, which helped to set and implement the strategic direction of the Affiliate and implemented its key initiatives.  read full bio
Lisa Herschli headshot Lisa Herschli was born and raised in Irvington, NJ.  She retired in 2001 from a rewarding career in the financial industry.  Her last position, as head trader and partner in a mutual fund company, brought her to Denver, CO in late 1997.
Lisa lost her mom to breast cancer in 1978 and she, herself, was diagnosed in 1989.As fate would have it, she and Deb met two weeks before the death of Lisa’s mom. read full bio
